The state we're in
Does anyone know if there's any possibility whatsoever of getting my hands on any of The State We're In? Specifically the episode where, apparently, Jon Holmes gets beaten up by the SAS? I've looked everywhere and all I can find is a few clips from it in his showreel (on YouTube), which is fun but, you know, not enough.

More spares... (8th, 15th, 22nd)
Hello again,

My friends and I seem to have been very lucky with tickets for this series (please don't hit us or anything)... therefore, I find myself with some spares for the following dates:

8th July (tomorrow)
15th July
22nd July

Please send me a private message (rather than a comment) on here if you'd like some - let me know how many you want and your email address and I'll see what I can do! First-come first-served, and please do be quick about the ones for tomorrow as I'm not going to be around long during the day...

Tickets for 17th and 24th
Hello again,

I've got two spare tickets for tomorrow's Now Show (again, apologies for short notice!) should anyone like them.

I've also got four spares for next Thursday, the 24th - would love to go but I will be attending a family funeral the day before and staying with family for a couple of days, so if anyone else can use the tickets, please let me know.

Send me a message on here if you're interested in either date!

Tonight's Now Show recording
Just a quick heads up for anyone going to tonight's recording (which includes me - thanks ever so much to amandapear!) - the recording venue (according to various Tweets by the cast, including Mitch Benn) is going to be the Shaw Theatre, on Euston Road, and not the usual Broadcasting House venue. Address and map here.

On the bright side, that means (hopefully) we don't have to endure the BBC's, um, overzealous security checks..!

Tickets for 11th and 18th
How do! Does anyone still read this?!

Apologies for the short notice, but I have two spare tickets for tomorrow's Now Show recording, should anyone like to take me up on them.

I also have four spares for the 18th - double-booked myself because I am a prannit, so if anyone can use the tickets, do let me know.

ETA: 11th now gone; still two spares for the 18th.

Spare tickets - 30/07/09
Well, bugger me with a fish fork, as General Melchett once said! The BBC have blessed me with tickets for the 30th July as well. Once again, I have two spares, so whoever wants them, please let me know. First come first served again :)

(You may have noticed, aside from panicky over-ordering, I like to try and get spares for the rarer/more popular shows so I can share with other fans :D)

EDIT: Gone now - sorry :(

Spare tickets - 23/07/09
Hello! I thought I wouldn't get any tickets at all for this series, considering the BBC's new policy of random draws for popular shows; because of said policy I panicked and over-ordered, thinking I'd get no tickets at all!

However, I now find myself with two spares for the 23rd July and thought I would post here to give you all first refusal on them. First to ask will get!

EDIT - Now gone, sorry :(

Recording tickets available!
Hello, first-time poster here! Just thought I'd pop in to let you know there's currently tickets available for a batch of recording dates in March (05/12/19/26) and April (02/09/16/23) over at BBC Tickets. Not sure how long they'll remain available, so I'd get in fast!

Also, if anyone gets spares they can't/won't use, or should someone have a request for tickets if they were unlucky in applying, please feel free to use Ticket Exchange, which is a little forum I've set up for ticket offers/requests/swaps. I'm well aware that tickets for some recordings can be hard to come by so it always helps if people can help out other people with this kind of thing!

Hope this post's of use to someone or other! x

...is the now show next on?

I ask because I've got an extended period working in London coming up (the next three months) - and I'd love to catch a live recording.....

Oh and Robin Ince tour "bleeding heart liberal" was very funny. Rambling and odd - a combination of middle class and poo jokes.

Marcus's new programme
Hi, all. Just thought I'd point you all in the direction of Marcus Brigstocke's new programme on Five (why, oh why?!), 'The What In The World? Quiz'. They try and sell it as a comedy panel show but by the looks of things, it's horrendous. It's on now, by the way. I think it may also be trying to be QI and failing completely.

Ahh, I love Marcus but why does he let himself do these kinda things?!

Hello, you lovely people. Do any of you, by any chance, have the first two podcasts of this series they could share with me - I was away for a fortnight and naively thought iTunes would keep 'em for me. I'd be eternally grateful!

EDIT: I've managed to find a Now Show archive online instead :) Thanks!

I'm confused. Was there an episode this Friday? Nothing came up on iTunes, but the Radio 4 main page lists it on the choice of the day panel and the schedule lists it as having been on. And when I clicked on the listen again link, it doesn't work.

Does anyone know what's going on? I figure it is just a mess up and will air next week, but I just wanted to check.

A thought...
It occurred to me yesterday that this year (September to be precise) is the tenth anniversary of the first Now Show.

And I thought...it's a bit short notice, granted, but surely some sort of Now Show mini-convention could be organised. Even if it's basically just an opportunity for loads of fans to meet up and socialise and get drunk. And possibly - depending on the logistics of it - invite one or two of the Now Show team, past and present, to be guests, although I'd ideally like to keep it fairly informal.

At the moment, it's just a vague idea. If it happens, it would be ideally as near as possible to the tenth anniversary (which IIRC is September 26th), probably somewhere in London (although outside London would be cheaper, I suspect). But the bottom line is - if it were to happen, how many people would be interested in attending? It'd be nice to get some idea of numbers at this stage...

(And if it were to happen, how many people would be happy to help me organise it? Bearing in mind that convention-organising isn't something I've got any experience of whatsoever, so it's going to be a very steep learning curve...)

Dawkins is a Marcus fan?
Can anyone confirm my memory that Marcus is something of a fan of Richard Dawkins? I believe he is but am not sure. Regardless, for those interested, Dawkins is currently on a speaking tour of the States, and I got linked to an entry of an attendee of the Austin TX event. Of particular note:
Finally, as part of his presentation Dawkins played a short comedy video about religious extremism by Marcus Brigstocke, which I will link below. It's pretty good.
That would be Marcus's infamous religion rant from the now_show then. Being used by Richard Dawkins as part of his tour. How cool is that?

Um, anyone know how to tell Marcus?
